Running at Night with Jake

About two years ago, I adopted a German Shepherd named Jake from the local animal shelter, and the two of us have been inseparable ever since. Jake always wants to be near me; he sleeps on my bed, sits next to me on the couch, and I’ve even caught him wanting jump in the shower a few times. I’ve always liked to go running late at night before bed, and Jake accompanies me on the runs. To ensure proper dog safety, I put him on a dog leash and make him wear a reflective dog collar.

Initially I’d leave Jake home, and when I left the house, I could hear him barking, and he’d still be barking most of the time when I returned! I wear a reflective hat, so to the distant driver, I’m sure Jake and I look quite the oddity. But running keeps us both in shape, and afterward I come home and am tired and ready for bed.
