How To Use A Dog Leash

9 May;  Author: Hrynewich

One of the most enjoyable aspects of dog ownership is walking your dog. The standard six-foot dog leash is what I use and all too often I see people walking their dog having trouble the whole time.  The main reason for this is that they only use one hand to hold the leash allowing the dog to walk in front instead of alongside.

The best way to use a six-foot dog leash is to use both hands; one hand in the loop end of the dog leash and the other about half way down leaving only enough slack to allow your dog to walk comfortably. This helps maintain control if your dog sees something he/she just needs to run after.

Most people think that paw protectors for their dog are only good for winter but rather they can protector your dog’s paws year round. The other day when I was walking my dog, we ran into some broken glass on the side of the road.

Of course, my dog almost walked right through it and instead we moved into the street and around the glass. It was one of those first hot sunny days and the asphalt was blazing hot. I was glad I still outfitted her with her paw protectors. I can only image what walking on hot asphalt would have done to the pads on her paws. With the temperatures heating up so will streets and sidewalks you use to walk your dog.

Spring is in the air and so is the under coat your dog is shedding. If you have a long-haired dog then you know this time year is when the heavy shedding season begins. One the ways we can reduce the amount of hair left behind is by using a deshedding tool.

Deshedding tools and dog brushes used daily during the shedding season will help remove the under coat, adding a deshedding dog shampoo into the equation will help even more. By using all of the deshedding tools available to dog owners, you can make this time of year a little more tolerable.
