Best Dog Nail ClippersAs part of our dog-grooming regimen, clipping your dogs’ nails can be a painful task. Clipping your dog’s nails is not something most dogs enjoy. In fact, they often will jerk their paw away or better still the moment they see the clipper in your hand off they go ducking in the dog crate.

It’s no wonder this is the resulting behavior, clipping into the quick is painful and if this has happened to your dog it is not likely to ever be forgotten. The solution is to buy a quality dog nail clipper with a safety guard, which is easy enough to use without breaking the bank.

While nail grinders are fine for safety, I doubt whether your dog will enjoy the sound or the feeling of nail grinder. The dog nail clipper I have used with the greatest effect is from Four Paws. It is not the guillotine style, which is a pretty useless tool that never stays sharp and awkward to use. These professional style dog nail clippers come with a safety guard to prevent clipping below the quick. Best of all they’re priced under $10.

Cleaning Your Small Dogs Teeth

30 October;  Author: Daily Wag

Dog Grooming Supply-Finger Dog ToothbrushOne the most important steps to dog grooming is brushing your dogs’ teeth. Dogs are just as susceptible to the same mouth diseases as humans are. For small dogs it can be very difficult to use a regular dog toothbrush, even the tiny ones are hard to use in their small mouths.

The dog grooming supply we found to work the best in preventing dog dental health problems is a finger toothbrush glove. Since your dog is most likely use to you playing and putting your hands and fingers in their mouth already using the finger glove will be easily accepted. Brushing your dogs’ teeth not only prevents the dog heath problems associated with mouth disease it will also give them fresher breath, ready to give you some sloppy kisses.

Make using this dog grooming supply as part of your grooming routine and enjoy the benefits that come along with a dog with great dental health.

Bamboo Dematting Tool“Bamboo” Dog Undercoat & Dematting Rake is a 2-in-1 dog grooming tool with a unique design that combines two dog grooming tools into one, and is an easy-to-store item. The undercoat rake allows groomers to remove thick, winter coats, while the dematting rake is ideal for cutting through tough matts that are resistant to regular dog combs or dog brushes. To enhance user safety, the sharp, stainless steel dematting tool blades fold flat for compact storage, protecting the cutting edge and curious fingers. Cushioned, non-slip shank provides a dog grooming tool with a comfortable and secure grip.

This dematting tool works wonders on longhaired dogs. One customer with a chow/lab mix says, “She has quite a mane and is seriously shedding her undercoat. This fur is quite coarse and a regular dog brush or shedding blade just cannot battle it. This dematting tool eliminated a poodle-sized pile of fur just from her MANE! Other dog combs are pretty much worthless on all of my dogs, especially when compared to how well this dematting shedding blade works.”

Getting to Know the Daily Routine

28 October;  Author: 4MyBestFriend

leather-dog-leashOver the years, I’d like to think I’ve gotten to know my dog pretty well. It’s to the point now that I can practically anticipate his every move. Somewhat surprisingly, he seems to know me just as well. He can read my actions and behavior well enough to know precisely what’s about to happen to him. Take, for example, his reaction to the daily walking routine.

If I begin putting on my shoes in the evening, the dog’s tail begins to wag slightly, cautiously. Then, when I pick up the trusty leather dog leash and begin twirling it in my hand, he barks expectantly. Finally, I dig out a plastic bag for the express purpose of picking up dog poop. At that point there can be no doubt about the fact that a walk is imminent, and the dog goes buck wild until I fit the leash onto his collar.

Biodegradable Dog Waste BagsWith only four days left until Halloween, have you purchased your dog Halloween costume. With so many choices available for every size dog why not let your pooch be the life of the party! On a related note, if you are walking through the neighborhood with your kids this year joined by the family dog in his/her Halloween costume; make sure to take along some dog waste bags.

Walking down your neighborhood streets with the kids and dog in tow is a great way for your dog to show off his/her dog Halloween costume but the need to relieve is bound to happen. Taking along biodegradable dog waste bags is the perfect way to handle this issue while walking your dog.

Dog waste is about, as biodegradable as it gets so don’t use a plastic dog waste bag. There are several biodegradable versions on the market that include dispensers you can clip outside the back door. Be prepared this Halloween and take along a few biodegradable dog waste bags for the trip through the streets.

dog-anxiety-wrap

Now that fall is here so too is more rain and thunderstorms. If you are like many dog owners as their dog’s age they become more prone to dog anxiety from loud noises, stress in a change of routine, as well as a host of other anxiety triggers.

Ease dog anxiety and dog stress without medication by using the Anxiety Wrap. Anxiety Wrap offers a holistic approach to calm your dog when it is stressed by thunderstorms, fireworks, carsickness, or vet visits. Repeated use can aid in ending shyness and nervousness, destructive chewing, grooming issues, jumping and help release stress and tension in your dog.

The dog Anxiety Wrap uses a technique called maintained pressure to calm the dog and redirect focus by applying slight pressure to a wide area of the body. Help your dog to focus and remain calm. Use with gentle dog training methods for behavior modification. Measure the dogs chest while standing at the fullest part of the ribcage. The cloth tape measure should be slightly snug. DO NOT round. The MEDIUM size fits chest measurements of 28 to 30 inches.

oster-nail-grinder-dog-grooming-tool“I bought this dog grooming tool for my 2 dogs an Australian Shepherd and a Chihuahua. I got tired of taking my dogs to get their nails clipped at the dog groomers and paying a fortune and having them tell me that they accidentally cut the quick. At first both of them were afraid of the machine because of the noise the dog grooming tool made. They ran away and it was difficult to keep them in one spot so I could work on their nails.

It was difficult to chase after them with the cord and having to find an outlet. I did enjoy that with the cord I didn’t have to bother charging and recharging the dog grooming tool. After a while, I was able to groom their nails and they got used to the sound. I thought it was better than the traditional dog nail clippers and there were no jagged edges like clippers and I didn’t have to worry about cutting into the quick. I would recommend this dog grooming tool as long as you have the patience to use it and let your pets get used to it.”

Finally An Indestructible Dog Toy

23 October;  Author: Daily Wag

huck-indestructible-ball-dog-toyIn our search for a dog toy our pooch would not destroy in an afternoon, we found the Huck Indestructible Ball Dog Toy. This ball is the best I have ever seen! It can be chewed on for hours and not a mark on it. Excellent if your dog is chewer.

When our dog throws it up in the air for play it bounces high, far, and in unpredictable ways that greatly entertain your dog. The crevices give the dog a good place to grab and definitely enhance the whole experience. When I throw the ball for my dog, I never know where it will end up after the first bounce.

This new indestructible dog toy is also made from safe recyclable material found in all Huck dog toys and it’s handcrafted in Bozeman, Montana. Great for not only those chewers but also for dogs who love to play fetch and it even floats so taking the dog to the beach means even more fun to be had.

Dog Coat

Fall has officially arrived and if you live in the northern states then you know we have experienced our last warm days. As the temperature cools, dog owners spend less time walking and exercising their dogs and with good cause as shorthaired and even some longhaired dogs do not do well without the added protection of a dog coat.

Over the years, the dog apparel industry has grown by leaps and bounds offering dog coats in virtually any size, color, and texture. From dog sweaters to coats filled with feathered down, you can shop for large dogs coats and small dogs coats. As dog owners, we know that properly exercising our dogs prevents a host of dog health problems from obesity to cardio.

Don’t let the cooler temperatures of fall keep you from spending precious little time left at your local dog park. Continue walking your dog and give him or her the protection they need with a stylish dog coat.

Large Dog Halloween Costume

In talking to a friend the other day, who was looking for a dog Halloween costume for his Bullmastiff, could not seem to find one large enough. His dog weighs in at 125 lbs and stands all most 30 inches at the withers. Now that’s one big dog. So I started to ask him about the dog’s personality his temperament anything that would help us search for the right dog costume.

“The Bullmastiff stands at attention with a very imposing look that makes people stop and think before they approach,” he said. With that in mind, we began our search and the dog Halloween costume we found is perfect. A police dog Halloween costume was our choice and it is made for big dogs that will fit great. His Bullmastiff is going to look awesome this Halloween.
