Pill Pockets Are The Best

26 February;  Author: ILuvGriffons

Our dog has to take three different medications every day. We have tried every trick under the sun to get her to take her pills. She now knows what a treat of peanut butter or cheese means.  Giving her the pills by pushing them over the back of her tongue is not an option.

As it turns out Greenies Pill Pockets is the best dog treat to give our dog her daily meds. We buy the large pill pockets and split them into two pieces. One piece holds two of the smaller pills while the over half holds the larger pill. She just gobbles these down and the best part, her breath smells better as well.

My Dog’s Teeth Look Great

7 February;  Author: Hrynewich

If you’re like most people finding the time and patience to brush your dog’s teeth can be challenging. On the market today, you can find several choices to help offset a brushing regiment. Dog treats like Greenies®, which are marketed as dental treats, are a great way for you to accomplish this task.

These dog treats can be given daily or in between brushings. Although the cost for these dental chew dog treats can seem a little pricey, in the long run they are far less expensive than a visit to vet for an all day treatment of Pyorrhea.

How To Use Dog Treats For Training

5 February;  Author: Hrynewich

There is a misconception among dog owners that says when your dog completes a training secession successfully give them a dog treat first and then the “at-a-boy” pat on the head. While giving a dog treat for a job well done is a good idea, it should never be the first thing they receive.

When your dog learns a new command, the first thing they should receive is your affection followed by the dog treats. The reason this order of reward is best is to ensure your dog has executed the command because he/she wants to please you and not that there is a tasty dog treat involved.

Should your dog become bored with the treats or decide, “I don’t like that dog treat anymore” then they will not follow your direction.  Therefore, always associate a job well done with your affection first and then follow up with their favorite dog treat.

Greenies – Catnip for dogs

13 October;  Author: Hrynewich

I have been using Greenies dog treats for years, including the older formula that reportedly had digestion problems. However, we dog-treatsnever have had any problems with Greenies. Just make sure you get the appropriate size for your dog.

I have never seen a dog that could resist a Greenie dog treat. They will start doing tricks never seen before once you bring them into the house. They do help with their breath, teeth cleaning and training and we normally use them as “well earned” treats (they aren’t the cheapest thing in the treat world).

I just ordered 4, 27 oz. tubs of the Teenies (we have Belgian Sheepdogs) and I know our dogs will enjoy every one of them. Never have to worry about our dogs getting fat eating Greenies dog treats, as we do not give them multiple times a day.

The new formula reportedly has solved the digestibility problem and the manufacturer claims is now more digestible than normal dog food. In the original formula, the problem usually involved incidents when dogs just tried to swallow them whole or get it down in 2 bites. Our dogs always chewed Greenies dog treats into small pieces avoiding any problems. Believe me; your dogs will love them.

There is no doubt about it dogs love rawhide chews. It helps them relieve boredom preventing your Safe Dog Bonesdog from chewing on your stuff and helps their teeth & gums. Nevertheless, are they really a safe dog bone for your pooch? Some dog owners swear by them while others will never give their dog a rawhide chew. There is a happy medium but first let us look at why this dog chew may be unsafe.

Dog rawhide chews can splinter if they dry out causing intestinal damage. They also expand when they get wet so if your dog eats them to fast swallowing large pieces then it can expand in the stomach causing intestinal blockage.

The alternatives to rawhide bones are plentiful. Nylon dog bones are one choice providing the same success in relieving your dog’s boredom while also promoting healthy teeth and gums.

Dog dental chews will satisfy their chewing while providing a healthy dog treat freshening up their breath. There are many varieties on the market today with choices of flavor, size as well as several different brands.

Choose the right dog rawhide chew alternative for your pooch and give your family pet the mind stimulation, reduced boredom all the while providing healthier teeth and gums.
