Spring is in the air and so is the under coat your dog is shedding. If you have a long-haired dog then you know this time year is when the heavy shedding season begins. One the ways we can reduce the amount of hair left behind is by using a deshedding tool.

Deshedding tools and dog brushes used daily during the shedding season will help remove the under coat, adding a deshedding dog shampoo into the equation will help even more. By using all of the deshedding tools available to dog owners, you can make this time of year a little more tolerable.

Pet owners with longhaired dogs have tried for decades to stop shedding with little success. Then along came the FURminator deshedding dog brush and people ran to buy the grooming tool hoping against hope this would do the trick.

While this dog brush did help relieve some of the shedding problems, it did not stop. Dog owners of longhaired breeds can spend hours brushing their dogs only to find that the next day they still have a house full of hair. In fact, there is no one grooming tool that will stop shedding.

The technology of the FURminator does just that. It removes the dead hair of the undercoat without damaging the top coat. The dog brush alone will help reduce shedding, however, when you combine the dog brush with deshedding dog shampoo and conditioner you can severely reduce shedding.

Customer reviews of these grooming supplies have all said the same thing; they have stopped the shedding for up to eight weeks. Therefore, if you are looking to truly enjoy the companionship dog ownership can bring but cannot because of allergies or frustration; cleaning daily with this dog brush and deshedding tools will help.

Dog Bath BrushWe have a Belgian Sheepdog who seems to be in a constant state of shedding. It goes with the territory with longhaired dogs along with daily brushing. There are several dog grooming supplies on the market to help reduce shedding and one the best we use is a FURminator tub bathing brush.

With this bathing brush combined with a deshedding dog shampoo, you can really remove quite a bit of loose hair. We do this about every ten weeks and in between there is little to no loose hair left around the house. Using the right dog grooming supplies will reduce loose dog hair and help you keep your house hair free longer.

Furminator ShampooI purchased the small blue FURminator® brush with 1.7 inch blade along with the FURminator® Shampoo and FURminator Solution. I washed both dogs with the shampoo for 5 minutes each as directed. A ton of hair came off both dogs after the shampoo, about a fist-full each.

Next, I slathered them up with the solution, which smells like roses or some other floral scent and left that on for 5 minutes. Again, another fistful of hair came out with the rinse! I allowed both dogs a couple of hours to dry all the way, then came back and used the FURminator® dog brush.

Our Dog loves being brushed and let me go over her whole body except the sensitive areas with the tool. In addition, let me tell you, I took out a wad of superfine undercoat fur the size of her head off of that dog. Moreover, the only hair she’s leaving around the house is hair that was already all over the place prior to the FURminator® treatment. I don’t get hair flying off her when petting her anymore, and even the Rat Terrier that wouldn’t let me use the tool on him is still not putting out a lot of shedding.

Slicker Dog BrushThis is a great dog slicker grooming brush that really works well. Feels good in the hand and the self-cleaning part is a great feature! I highly recommend it; the dog brush really is great for our rough Collie that has plenty of hair!

Having the right dog grooming supplies is so worth the expense, especially when you compare the cost of tools with the cost of even one professional grooming session. While professional grooming sessions are great and sometimes necessary, we still have to maintain our dogs in between appointments and using this slicker dog brush will do just that.

There is also a therapeutic effect of using this dog slicker brush for your pooch. Your will love the feeling and the attention you spend grooming him or her. Dog grooming is a wonderful way to return all the affection our four legged family members give us every day.

Dog BrushFor some dog owners living in the beautiful northern States and Canada, November marks a long break from the regular dog grooming practice of bathing our dogs at home. The cold weather and a wet dog preclude a nasty cold. This is one custom review with a dog grooming product that sounds perfect to get you through until spring:

The Most Amazing Brush ™¥™¥™¥™¥™¥(Five out of Five)

The Ionic Brush is the most Amazing brush ever. Before we used it on the
beautiful Lab dog. We tried it on ourselves and WOW , Our hair was shinier
than you can imagine.

When we used it on the dog, she looked wonderful and smelled great, she was so relaxed with the brushing. She often goes to a near by pond to swim, after brushing you would never know she had gotten wet and dirty. Your dog brush is great. Let me know when you are giving them away, cause I want to be in the front of the line. This is well worth your time to try this dog brush.

Bamboo Dematting Tool“Bamboo” Dog Undercoat & Dematting Rake is a 2-in-1 dog grooming tool with a unique design that combines two dog grooming tools into one, and is an easy-to-store item. The undercoat rake allows groomers to remove thick, winter coats, while the dematting rake is ideal for cutting through tough matts that are resistant to regular dog combs or dog brushes. To enhance user safety, the sharp, stainless steel dematting tool blades fold flat for compact storage, protecting the cutting edge and curious fingers. Cushioned, non-slip shank provides a dog grooming tool with a comfortable and secure grip.

This dematting tool works wonders on longhaired dogs. One customer with a chow/lab mix says, “She has quite a mane and is seriously shedding her undercoat. This fur is quite coarse and a regular dog brush or shedding blade just cannot battle it. This dematting tool eliminated a poodle-sized pile of fur just from her MANE! Other dog combs are pretty much worthless on all of my dogs, especially when compared to how well this dematting shedding blade works.”

dog-grooming-stripper-rackWe have two 5-year-old cairn terriers that have always been clipped. In the last year or so, I’ve been doing it myself, but it’s such a long process and neither dog enjoyed it. Then I read online that cairns are supposed to be hand-stripped rather than clipped to keep their coats healthy, but that hand-stripping is difficult to learn and very expensive to have done by professional dog groomers.

Fortunately, I noticed that many cairn owners who don’t show their dogs were praising something called a Mars Coat King dog grooming tool in lieu of hand-stripping their pets, so I investigated and decided to try it. What a difference! You simply rake the dog’s coat with this dog grooming tool, and all the dead hair comes out. There’s very little pulling, about the same amount as using a dog brush. In fact, both dogs yawned and laid down while I raked them! In just an hour I had a pile of hair from both dogs that equaled the amount I usually clip off them — but this was dead hair, roots and all, that NEEDED to come off. And this dog grooming tool is easy and fast compared to using the dog clippers.

If you have a terrier, especially a cairn, I can’t recommend the Mars Coat King dog grooming tool enough. Treat yourself and your furry friend to this wonderful product! You might never need to break out the clippers or visit a dog groomer again.
