Dog Boots

As the snow begins to fall in the Northern 48 dog boots and dog paw protectors can become an important accessory to your dog clothes. Below is a customer review of a very popular brand:

Hands down the best dog boots going ™¥™¥™¥™¥™¥
This is my 4th pair of Muttluk all weather boots. I have tried the winter fleece-lined boots only once. They are too warm for my dog. I have an Australian Shepherd mix who is very heavy footed. My dog ejects himself from the back door, off the deck onto the grass at full speed and gallops across the yard in rain, mud or snow to get to whatever creature he has seen that has his interest. He will “throw a shoe” on occasion, but they wear like iron. I buy a pair new every year, and keep the old ones just in case. 90% of the time they stay on and with a dog this large and active, that in itself is a miracle. These are – hands down – the best boots going. Older dogs will take a while to get used to them and it depends on the personality and temperament of your dog as to whether or not they will wear them. My dog does what he’s told and has no problems. Give them a try. If you don’t like them, return them.

All Paws on Deck

dog-life-jacket

Before buying a golden retriever, I was well aware of that breed’s propensity to fetch tennis balls. My dog’s obsession with a fuzzy Wilson or Dunlop knows no bounds. A few months ago I began taking her for walks to the beach and she could spend hours running after the ball as it trailed along the sand. Once by accident I pitched the ball into the lake, and Daisy tore over the waves completely undaunted.

That incident gave me an idea: Maybe Daisy would like to accompany my family and me on a sailing trip. We planned to set sail for a small island about a mile offshore from our home. I took control of the boat and my wife outfitted Daisy in a specialized dog life jacket. Sure enough, she took to the sailing life like a dog to a tennis ball. We’ve been embarking on short sailing trips together ever since.
